Internationally acclaimed clarinetist, Arthur Campbell has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia, has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, and has a celebrated solo recording career.
Reviews in leading publications consistently rank Campbell as one of the world’s leading clarinet virtuosos. In 2007 alone Campbell’s recording, Brahms: Clarinet Chamber Music, won the Supersonic Award in Belgium, the Magnifique Award in France and the Recomendado in Spain. In addition to his highly praised performances of the standard canon, Arthur Campbell is recognized as one of the leading champions of contemporary repertoire of his generation and has had pieces written expressly for him by some of today’s most distinguished composers. He has recorded three acclaimed CD’s featuring new works.
Campbell’s live performances have been broadcast internationally on over 400 radio stations, and on the worldwide broadcasts of the Web Concert Hall Series. Also in great demand as a master teacher, Dr. Campbell has presented master classes at leading universities, conservatories, festivals and conventions throughout the world.
Campbell has won numerous international and national competitions and received the Doctor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Northwestern University, where he studied with renowned clarinetist and pedagogue Robert Marcellus. Campbell holds the distinction of being one of only three people ever to have completed a doctoral degree as a student of the late Marcellus. A native of Canada, Campbell grew up in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. He now lives in the US, having been recruited to the Artist-Faculty of Grand Valley State University in Michigan where he has built a thriving studio of clarinet students from around the globe. International Competitions and Awards

Winner, International Web Concert Hall Competition In September 2001 Campbell was selected as one of six winners of the 2001 International Web Concert Hall Competition. This important new international competition, which began in 1999, has quickly established itself as a leading competition for professional classical musicians because of the worldwide exposure the winners receive. The competition is not limited by category and is open to pianists, instrumentalists of all types, and to singers. In 2001 six winners and one overall winner were chosen. Campbell was the only wind player to be selected as one of the six winners. Campbell will have performances broadcast on the Web Concert Hall for the next five years and each broadcast is announced to concert booking agents and classical music related organizations throughout the world. As one of the 2001 winners, Campbell has been featured in press releases and articles in newspapers and journals throughout the world, and has given an extensive interview for the online classical music journal, MusicalOnline. U.S. Department of State:American Artist Abroad Award In August of 2000 Campbell was awarded the prestigious American Artist Abroad Award. The U.S. Department of State sponsors the competition for this award. Winners are selected as representatives of the highest levels of arts activity in the United States for international audiences. Other recent winners of this award include, The American String Quartet, NY composer/performer Philip Glass, and Grammy Award winning vocal group Chanticleer.

ICA International Competition Winner, Featured Artist
To launch their 1996 CD recording project, the International Clarinet Association held an international competition, which accepted 74 contestants from 12 countries. Campbell was one of six overall winners chosen and one of only two solo artists to be featured on the CD recording Music from the ICA.

Campbell has served on the jury of “Advisors and Music Reviewers” for the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition. Other jury members included Allen Vizzutti, international trumpet performer, and Eugene Rosseau, legendary saxophone pedagogue.
