Curriculum Vitae

Martin U. Sander is professor of organ at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Heidelberg and teaches also at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt/Main.

Born in Berlin in 1963, he studied organ with Ulrich Bremsteller, Harald Vogel, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Flor Peeters, Daniel Roth and other renowned teachers.
After having won one of the highest national awards, the Mendelssohn Prize in Berlin (1986), he succeeded in winning three of the most important international organ competitions in the following years: ARD in Munich, Bach in Leipzig, and Prague Spring.
Another big success was the 2nd Prize at the First International Organ Competition Musashino-Tokyo (1988).

He has given recitals in many European cities, and his foreign tours have taken him to, amongst others, Russia, East Asia, the USA, and Brazil. He conducted numerous master classes in Germany and abroad.

Among the orchestras he played with as a soloist are the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, Händel Festival Orchestra Halle/Saale, Radio-Philharmonie Hannover, Bochumer Symphoniker (all in Germany), Basel Sinfonietta (Switzerland), Szolnók Symphonie (Hungary), and Filharmonia Pomorska Bydgosz (Poland).

Various German and foreign radio and TV stations recorded many of his concerts and invited him for productions.
